Harvest for Hunger: Kids Art Show is a community driven event to encourage young imaginations to create art work inspired by the ideas of receiving and of giving from the Harvest. It is our goal here at New Cascadia Traditional to provide a showcase of children’s harvest inspired art work, and to host an event that will celebrate the beauty and abundance  of the Harvest season as well as the joy of gathering together as a community. All proceeds from the Harvest for Hunger: Kids Art Show will be donated to the Oregon Food Bank and we will be accepting non-perishable food items for the OFB. Deadline for art work submissions is October 1st.

So, we need art work from our young patrons and we will be hosting “Art Hours”  on Friday, Sept. 24th from 3-5 to get the ball rolling. “Art Hours” means we will have FREE mini cupcakes (only for participants, please-and while supplies last), paper, crayons and washable markers available for you to use. Entry forms for the art show are available at the counter so that you can create and submit your art in one easy step, all the while enjoying delicious gluten-free treats. There is a suggested entry fee of one non-perishable food item that will be donated to the Oregon Food Bank. If you can’t make this event we will have art materials available all week leading up to the deadline-just ask the staff for assistance.

Wait! There’s more. The Artists Reception is planned for Thursday, October 7th from 2-5. We will have music and singing, special gluten-free goodies and you will have an opportunity to participate in our collectively created mural. There will be a big roll of paper for us to draw on together. This will serve as the banner that will be displayed in the bakery for the duration of the show.
