Thanksgiving 2016!!!!!!

Our stuffing mix is always a popular item and not everyone who wants to buy it can get here before we sell out. So, we have our Stuffing Recipe below to help out those folks who get here too late for our stuffing mix (it’s only available at the bakery on a strict First Come, First Served basis). The recipe calls for our Honey Gold bread but you can substitute any of our breads with great success!

Basic Recipe, 6 servings (or 8-10 with optional ingredients added)

3/4 Cups butter or 1/2 Cup olive oil

2 Cups diced onion

1 1/2 Cups celery stalk, diced

1 loaf of Honey Gold bread (or any other equivalent amount of bread), cut into 1″ cubes

1-2 Cups broth/stock of choice (more if bread has been dried)

1 tsp thyme

1 tsp sage

salt and pepper to taste

**Suggested optional ingredients: 8-10 oz sausage, 4-8 ounces chanterelle or other mushrooms, sauteed, 1/2 Cup walnuts or 1 Cup roasted chestnuts, 1/4 Cup sweetened, dried cranberries** Use one or any combination of these!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a glass baking dish with butter/oil.

Heat 2T of butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat and add onion and celery. Cook until tender.

If using sausage or mushrooms, add to skillet and saute untile browned.

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Add just enough broth/stock to saturate bread and mix well.

Transfer mix to buttered/oiled glass dish, cover with foil and bake 40 minutes.

Remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes or until top is slightly crispy. Enjoy!
